Meditation Essentials Course
A Five-Week Introduction to Mindfulness
and Loving-Kindness Meditation Course
Starts Tuesday 1st April 2025, 7pm – 9.15pm
Led by Prasannadeva and Jnanalila
Meditation is a means of transforming the mind. It helps us change the way we relate to ourselves and the world around us.
On this course we teach two meditation techniques, which consist of simple but effective practices drawn from the Buddhist tradition and were originally taught by the Buddha himself. They complement each other and can be learned by anyone, and you don’t have to be a Buddhist to benefit from them!
For more on meditation, mindfulness and loving-kindness, see our meditation page.
Over the five weeks we will cover:
Meditation & Mindfulness
- What is Meditation?
- Introduction to Mindfulness

- The Mindfulness of Breathing
- Exploring Aspects of Mindfulness
- The Development of Loving-Kindness
- Working with the Mind: Distraction and Absorption
- Taking Meditation into the World

Prasannadeva first came through the doors of the Dublin Buddhist Centre in 2012. He became a committed Buddhist in 2013 and was ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 2021.
Having studied Fine Art he was keen to find a context where his love of Western art, film and music was considered an important aspect of the spiritual life, regardless of whether it is an Eastern tradition or not, and felt right at home here. Prasannadeva has taught meditation courses with Trinity Meditation Society, has been involved with leading Young Buddhist events and is now leading Buddhism and meditation courses. He is currently working as Centre Manager.
Jnanalila first learned to meditate in 2010 at the Dublin Buddhist Centre, and the benefits of meditation quickly became apparent, not only within herself but also within relationships between friends and family. In 2013, she publicly became a Buddhist and was ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 2024.
Since embracing Buddhism, Jnanalila has felt a greater sense of happiness and integration. Believing that the world now, more than ever, needs more people living with awareness and compassion, Jnanalila hopes to continue contributing to this in whatever way possible.
