Volunteer at the DBC

Give your time and skill

Volunteer at the DBC

At the Dublin Buddhist Centre we are looking to develop a completely different way of being together. One based purely on open handed giving just for the meaning and connection that comes with it. Giving open handedly is the basis of a Buddhist Community and an important aspect of spiritual practice.

Opportunities

There are many ways to volunteer at the centre and we want to offer opportunities to anyone looking to join this network of giving and friendship. Some examples of things you could do are:

  • Helping on reception
  • Cleaning the centre
  • Supporting courses / retreats
  • Offering your specialised skills

Take the next step by volunteering at the DBC. Complete our Volunteer Interest Form today.

Run by Volunteers

Our model of giving means that teachers volunteer their time for free. And those that help support classes and retreats do so as volunteers. Those that work at the centre do so not for a salary but a support package that allows them to live simply.

A Growing Sangha

It is also a fundamental part of our Buddhist practice which emphasizes service to others as a vital part of growing as an individual. It is the basis for our network of friendship and connection.

Hear From Some of Our Volunteers

Alyson - Reception Team

“I began volunteering on the desk at the Dublin Buddhist Centre as a way of giving my time. What I’ve found is that it’s become a practice in itself. Being the first point of contact for people arriving, each interaction is a chance to be present, welcoming, and kind. It’s also been a lovely way to meet others on a similar path and feel more connected to the community. What began as an act of generosity has turned into something that supports my own spiritual growth.”

Renata - Course Supporter & Retreat Organiser

“For me, supporting courses and retreats isn’t just about helping out— it’s a way of practising. Offering my time and attention becomes part of my own development, a way to cultivate awareness, patience, and generosity. At the same time, being part of these events means I can play a small role in supporting others as they step away from the chaos of everyday life and begin to experience something more spacious and calm. It feels like contributing to something truly meaningful.”

Sam - Sangha Night Team

“Volunteering at the DBC, especially during Sangha Night, has become not only one of the most joyful parts of my week but also a cornerstone of my spiritual practice. Each moment of service – whether arranging the shrine room, preparing the tea station, or simply washing up – offers a chance to connect more deeply with old and new friends, nurture my commitment to growth, and give back to a community that has given me so much.”

Cheng - Gardening & Maintenance

“I love attending working retreats and helping around at Shubha Vihara. Gardening and volunteering are a great and fun way to get to know people in the sangha, build friendships, and learn about the dharma. I always come away feeling fresh and energised.”
