Dharma Circle:
The Three Positive Qualities:
Love
An Under-30 Event
Saturday 17th October 2026, 1pm – 3.30pm
This Saturday begins a new series of Dharma Circle seminars for under-30s, exploring some simple but powerful Buddhist ideas about how we prepare ourselves for practice. We will look at three positive qualities — love, respect and trust — which ask how we can become more open, receptive and ready to see things clearly. Our starting point is a beautiful line from a Buddhist text:
“Call forth as much as you can of love and devotion and of faith.”
The first seminar will focus on love, or prema: the capacity to meet ourselves and others with warmth, empathy and an open heart.
What does it mean to become more open-hearted? Can empathy be strengthened through practice? And why might love be something we actively “call forth”, rather than simply wait to feel?
This will be an accessible introduction to Buddhist practice, with space for reflection, discussion and shared exploration. All are welcome; no prior experience of Buddhism is needed.
The session begins at 1pm and finishes at 3.30pm with a tea break in the middle.
The event is drop-in and free of charge, although donations are welcome.
