Shubha Vihara
Relaunch of Our Retreat Centre Project
Tuesday 14th May 2024, 7pm – 9:15pm
Led by The Centre Team
Going on retreat has been a key part of the life of the Irish sangha since the Dublin Buddhist Centre was established in 1991. It’s often where people really get a flavour of what the living a Buddhist life is all about – where we experience the full richness of practising meditation, living simply and meaningful communication with others.
Since our principal retreat centre, Sandville House, was put on the market during the pandemic, we have struggled to find a retreat venue that offers us the opportunity to run retreats as and when we can – and for as long as we’d like.
In June 2022 we bought a property in Ballina, Co. Tipperary, with a view to making this our own retreat ‘home’ for now and future generations. On Tuesday 16th April 2024 we received notice that our planning application for Shubha Vihara, our retreat centre, had been approved by An Bord Pleanála – taking our vision of a retreat centre for the Irish sangha another step closer to becoming reality!
A Special Night!
This wonderful news means we are now able to proceed with the building project and move to the next phase of fundraising. Come along to a special Sangha Night on Tuesday 14th May at 7pm to find out more about our plans, celebrate this momentous occasion in the life of the Irish sangha, and hear from sangha members around the country about what this means for them. And we’ll marking this auspicious event with a special ritual!
We’d love to see you in person on the night, for what will be a historic evening – but if you can’t make it in person, do join us on Zoom (passcode if required is medandpuja).
Looking forward to seeing you here!
