Maitreyabandhu Book Launch – ‘After Cézanne’

Friday 29th November 2019
7:00pm - 9:00pm

Led by Maitreyabandhu

Maitreyabandhu was ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order 29 years ago. He is the author of three books on Buddhism, and is also a successful poet with three published books of poetry to his name.

He lives and works at the London Buddhist Centre and is visiting Dublin to launch his newest book of poetry After Cézanne, a sequence of fifty-six poems exploring the life and work of the post-impressionist painter Paul Cézanne.

Reimagining his friendships with Zola and Pissarro, his impact on Matisse and Picasso, as well as his posthumous reputation, Maitreyabandhu celebrates Cézanne’s apples and card players in poems at once tender, urgent and amused.

He will be launching this book on this night, and reading a selection of the poems.

After Cézanne includes a forward by the art historian Christopher Lloyd, extensive notes, and 26 colour reproductions, and copies will be available for purchase and for signing by Maitreyabandhu on the night.
