Can you help us here at the DBC?

Dear Friend,

I hope you are enjoying the changing season as we move into the glorious colours of Autumn. I certainly am. Walking to work every day I notice the leaves on the trees beginning to turn colour ever so slightly, and the colour of the sunlight changing and the darkening evenings.

I say walking to work, but the Buddhist Centre is more than just work for me. I am very fortunate to be applying my energies in an environment that I love, and in which I feel I can meaningfully contribute to helping people change their lives.

Testimonials

In this respect I would just like to read you three short testimonials from people who have come through our doors:

“In a few weeks, I’m already making small, practical, positive changes in my daily life. With practice and engagement, what I’ve been taught could really enrich my life and my experience of the world.”

“This is a life-changing experience that I would definitely recommend to anyone with interest in meditation and Buddhism. No pressure, great people, and a lovely setting. Thanks!”

“I found it extremely mind-opening, the way I used to think about certain things has changed. I feel more relaxed and calm. Everyone should meditate! The world would be a happier place!”

So some lovely expressions of benefit gained from attending a course or class at the DBC. And I am going to share a word that came to mind immediately when I asked myself to describe my own experience of the DBC– and the word was ‘lifesaver’!

Over the last 24 years, since I have been coming to (and now working at) the DBC, I have learnt so many tools that have helped to utterly transform, and at times it has felt like ‘saved’, my life. Tools such as meditation, ethical practice, spiritual friendship, and so many of the Buddha’s teachings that have given me a very rich and deeply meaningful life.

One of the main reasons why I work here now is that I feel a deep sense of gratitude for what I have learnt, and I wish to hand that on in whatever way I can.

But in order to do this I need your help, we at the DBC need your help.

The DBC has been around since the early 90s and it would be easy to take it for granted. We might just take for granted that it will always be here, even though sometimes over the years it has survived financially just by the skin of its teeth!

Giving a Standing Order

The money we generate at the DBC, on a not-for-profit basis, comes solely from our classes, courses, events and donations. And many people also give regularly to the DBC through Standing Orders, so that we can rely on a certain income to plan and deliver our activities.

Therefore, Standing Orders in particular, give us a great deal of stability.

If you think you can be one of those people who can give a regular Standing Order then we would like to invite you to do that now below with our very simple form.

No amount is too small and definitely no amount is too big! There is so much more we can do.

Helping to Make a Change

With the Buddha’s teachings there are so many more ‘small, practical, positive changes’ we can help bring about, or even ‘life-changing’ experiences. With your help we can work towards making the world ‘a happier place!’

We look forward to hearing back from you,

With metta,
Prajnagita & the DBC Centre Team
