Residential Weekend Retreats

Cavan Retreats

A retreat gives you a chance to put aside the concerns and demands of your everyday routine. By getting away from the noise and clutter of the city or wherever you come from, you can begin to relax and open up.

Many people who go on retreat feel more grounded, calmer and in touch with themselves.

Those who go on retreat regularly find these qualities pervading the rest of their lives, and find their spiritual practice naturally deepening.

The retreats listed here are suitable if you've done a meditation course with us.

Contact the centre or email us to book on.

The Essential Revolution
Weekend Retreat

The Essential Revolution Retreat
Friday 8nd - Sunday 10th September 2017
Led by Vajrashura & Sanghashura.

It is our mind creates our suffering and our happiness. Our mind creates meaning, value and meaninglessness. Our mind is the key to liberation and imprisonment, and our mind is key to anything worthwhile in our lives. And spiritual practice begins when we realise the centrality of our minds.

On this retreat we'll explore how the essential revolution in changing ourselves and changing the world is what we do with and how we relate to our own minds. In particular, we'll see the difference metta, loving-kindness, and mindfulness make in how we experience ourselves and act in the world.

And we'll see how cultivating these two can make a tremendous difference in the world, not just for ourselves but potentially for all beings.

Cost: €220 waged / €180 low-waged / €130 unwaged or student.
This retreat will take place in Mucklagh, Co. Wicklow

The Vajra and the Lotus
Long Weekend Retreat

Friday 27th - Monday 30th October 2017

On this weekend retreat, in Cavan's lovely countryside, we will be exploring the dynamic relationship between activity and receptivity that gives balance and harmony to our practice both on and off the meditation cushion.

The active dimension – the vajra quality – is the effort to cultivate awareness, kindness and other positive states of mind. The receptive dimension - the lotus quality - involves cultivating a non-directed open awareness of whatever is arising in our experience.

An appropriate balance between vajra and lotus brings deeper levels of stillness, creativity, emotional positivity and insight.

This retreat, led by Maitrikaya and Jnanadhara, will include meditation practice and instruction, and talks around the fire. For the ritual elements of the retreat we will be invoking the inspirational mythological figure of Padmasambhava - the vajra-wielder who is born from the lotus.

As always there will also be plenty of time to enjoy the countryside and good company. So do think of joining us for this bank holiday weekend.

Cost: €185 waged / €165 low-waged / €125 unwaged or student.
Takes place in Sandville House, Co. Cavan.
